# EveryLastMile Features

EveryLastMile is an iOS mileage tracking app that uses on-device sensor fusion to automatically log drives for tax deductions. Six features make it the most accurate, automated, and private mileage tracker for iPhone.

## 1. Auto Trip Detection

Multi-signal detection using GPS, motion sensors, CarPlay, Bluetooth, and parking geofences. EveryLastMile captures the true start of every drive — not just the moment movement is detected. Works in the background without draining your battery.

- Multi-signal start: combines GPS, motion, and connected-device cues so the start point is the curb you pulled away from.
- Background-safe: around 1–2% battery per day on normal use, using Apple-approved efficient APIs.
- Offline resilient: drives are cached on-device and reconciled when you reconnect.

## 2. Drive Split & Join

Combine separate trips that should be one (gas station detour, quick stop). Split a recorded drive when the app grouped two errands together. Other mileage apps lock you into whatever they recorded; EveryLastMile gives you editing tools to make your log accurate.

- Join two drives with one tap.
- Split a drive at any stop with visual on-map editing.
- See the route, choose the divider point, confirm.

## 3. Privacy by Architecture

Trip data, routes, and addresses are stored on your iPhone in an encrypted database. EveryLastMile does not run servers that hold your trips. No advertising SDKs. No location data shared with third parties. iCloud sync, if you turn it on, goes to your private iCloud account via CloudKit — not EveryLastMile's account.

- On-device storage encrypted by iOS.
- No advertising SDKs or tracking pixels. Website analytics are limited to Cloudflare Web Analytics and a privacy-constrained PostHog page and Web Vitals analytics setup.
- Optional iCloud sync to your private iCloud account.
- Export or delete your data anytime.

## 4. Smart Classification

One-tap classification for business, personal, medical, charitable, and moving trips. Saved locations and patterns help the app suggest the right category over time. When you're not sure if a drive qualifies, the app helps you decide based on IRS guidelines.

- All five IRS categories — one tap each.
- Recurring routes get pre-classified before you open the app.
- Bulk operations: select many drives, classify them all at once.

## 5. IRS-Ready Reports

Generate IRS-compliant mileage reports in PDF format, ready to submit to your accountant or attach to your tax return. Export raw data as CSV for spreadsheets, accounting software, or reimbursement systems. Every report includes the documentation IRS Publication 463 expects.

- PDF formatted to IRS Publication 463 — what an auditor would ask for.
- CSV for QuickBooks, Excel, and expense reimbursement systems.
- Filter and scope by date range, vehicle, or category.

## 6. Vehicles & Saved Places

Add multiple vehicles with odometer tracking. Save your home, office, frequent clients, and common destinations to speed up classification. The app learns your patterns to make logging effortless.

- Unlimited vehicles — personal car, work car, your spouse's car, all tracked separately.
- Saved locations pre-tag drives by start or end point.
- Odometer-aware: keep the running total each car shows on its dash in sync with the app.
